How we brought people and animals out of the left bank of the Kupiansk community when almost no crossings were left

In the winter and spring of 2026, we continued evacuations from the left bank of the Kupiansk community, even though most of the crossings had already been destroyed. Here are a few of the trips made during those months. January One of the last trips to Kivsharivka while the crossings had not yet been completely destroyed. The shelling never stopped: just before we entered the settlement, an aerial bomb hit a nine-storey building. That day we took out 12-13 people. February The outskirts of Kupiansk: we were taking out the last seven people from the sector where the evacuation was under way. With them were 3 dogs and 4 cats. Spring During one of the evacuations, a woman left her bag with her documents at the spot where people were boarding the boat. Despite the fighting, we went back for it. End of March We took 14 people across the river in an inflatable boat, three of them with limited mobility. One man who had no feeling in his legs had to be carried by the volunteers on their backs for 300 metres. Everyone made it out alive. April The road to the river was blocked by mines, so the boat and the people had to be carried on foot. Another time, more than 15 people and several animals were travelling in one vehicle; at the transit point it turned out that some of them had injuries they had said nothing about - an ambulance was called there. Every such trip is a risk for the volunteers and drivers. But we keep taking people out of the places where it is hardest to do so. In total, our volunteers have already evacuated more than 3,555 people.
